Oh, this is fantastic! I'd wondered about them since I saw them in my Wildlife of Star Wars book, and heard about your connection with them. Thanks so much for sharing all this! :D

Thanks for posting this; I've paraphrased a lot of it at Wookieepedia to give a bit of insight into your intentions for this species. I hope you approve! I was also curious if you were the person who posted this on Wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/index.php?title=Amaran&diff=prev&oldid=569586 I'm always eager to know the backstory behind various Star Wars aliens, and this is some interesting background if it's you. Was your conversation about the dearth of vulpine aliens in Star Wars one you had with Dan Wallace? And is the name "Amaran" a nod to Amara Fox, even if the species wasn't inspired by that character? Sorry for rambling! :)

Thanks for sharing this, Amy. Most Amarans I'd sene up until now looked more like the 'typical' furry anthro vixen. This may throw some folks for a bit of a loop. ;)

Great. I want to thank Amy for making this species. As an amaran ex-roleplayer myself, this info makes a great asset. I had invented pretty much all I used to rp with, save the bits found in the Star Wars wiki. I have made an amaran avatar in the online comunity known as Second Life. It was my personal roleplay character. Here's a link to the picture.

I also had a femae amaran, who was indeed very nature loving, and worked as a herbalist.
