Will you draw my character for free?
No. Due to time constraints and the fact that I need time to draw for myself, I don't do requests. Sometimes I will draw a free picture for my friends and family, but rarely for a stranger. Occasionally, I will take commissions.. see next question!

I'm painting our classroom / nursery school/ making quilts for sick children / women with breast cancer etc.. can I use your art?
Please send me an email and let me know what you would like to do with the art. I'm easy going when it comes to non profit, educational and charity causes. If you can provide a photo of the finished work, that is all I ask for. But please ask first.

Do you do art swaps?
Sometimes I will do art in exchange for other art.

Can I use your art on my web page? Permission is granted on a case by case basis.
If you would like to post my art on your web site, I need the following information sent to amara@flyingarmadillo.com:

  • Which picture would you like to use?
  • What is the purpose of this image reposting (Character picture, just some pretty art etc)?
  • What is the URL of the page you will be posting it on?
  • Will you be altering the image in any way (Cropping, colouring, resizing)?

Can I link to your web page?
Yes you may! If you wish to link to my page, use one of the buttons or banners below. Link only to http://www.flyingarmadillo.com/supersilly as any deep links (links to my sub pages) might break if I redesign my page again.

Will you link to my web page?
My links page is large and somewhat out of date. I don't add every link that is sent to me, so I can't guarantee that if you send a link that I'll put a link to your page. I will try, though.

Why haven't you answered my email?
Sometimes I am slow at answering email, and sometimes I don't know what to say. Sometimes i am away from my computer for a few days, so give me a bit of time before sending a second email. I also have a hyper sensitive spam filter. keep your email message as un-generic as possible, or it might end up in the trash.

AOL users.. I can't answer email sent to me if you've blocked receiving mail from people outside of AOL. This has happened before, and I get my email bouncing back because of it.

Can I colour your black and white art?
You can colour my art, there's really nothing I can do to stop you. If you do, DO NOT put this artwork on your webpage or elsewere on the net or distribute it without asking me!

Can I print your art on a T-shirt, in a book etc?
Not unless you're giving me royalties or paying me for the usage if the product will be distributed.
If you are just going to print one Tshirt, send an email, sometimes I will allow pieces to be printed.

Can I draw your character(s)?
You may draw Amara or Fox-Shark or whomever else as fan art if you wish.. here are some guidelines:

  • You must include the following: CharacterName (Ie fox-shark) is © A. Pronovost.
  • Absolutely NO naughty stuff! Keep the pics G or PG rated, and clothed in at least a bathing suit.

Send me a link to the art so I can see your wonderful work! Please do not send the images as email attachments.

Why don't you have thumbnails on your web site?
The site would take far too long to download. Perhaps when a larger proportion of folks are on boradband (And when I am!) this will come to be.

There used to be more art here! Where did the old art go?
I've pruned back my gallery of some of the old pieces that I don't like any more. These pieces of art can still be found at my yerf.com archive, so head over there and check it out! I tend to upload art there before it appears here as well.

Why are you called Amara?
I used the name of 'Magma' from new Mutants comic as one of my online characters way way back in 1995 or 1996 (I think 95). This character was around when I started posting my art online, so people became to know me as Amara and associate my art with it.

I am not the same person as Amara Telgemeier, who often gets confused with me.

What do you use to make your art?
I draw with just about anything. pencil, pen, ballpoint pen, crayon, bloody finger.. just kidding about the bloody finger. To ink I use a dip pen or a brush and speedball ink. I colour with Watercolours, Adobe Photoshop, Painter 6 or pencil crayons.

What do you use to make your web page?
Right now I'm using a combination of Dreamweaver and hand coding.

For the graphics, I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0, some Adobe Illustrator 10 and lots of time.

Can you teach me how to draw?
Maybe one day I'll have some tutorials online, but the best advice I can give is to draw everything you see and to invest on some art training. :)
