Scribble me this! Lab Rats and Reindeer and Critters, oh my!

Monday, December 17th, 2012

Lately I’ve been doing a little art, but I can’t show it off yet as everything has been a gift! HOWEVER, I have some cute little scribbles I can show you. These are the kinds of things that leap out of a ballpoint pen and onto the paper when I least expect it.

Several of the drawings live at the lab I work at. :) What can I say? I have a wonderful workplace. The reindeer were painted for our door to the lab.

The reindeer ate too many cookies and fell off the door a few times. oops!

Many critters

Ballpoint pen critter drawings. It’s fun to scribble northern Ontario animals. The bottom sketch is me trying to get one of our analyzers to work via a death stare.

Applejack in the Lab

Carl is our chemistry analyzer. Carl has a button called ‘Completn time’ which I always ALWAYS imagine in Applejack’s voice.

Moart. And Art art

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

I have been working on commissions and tooling around in between them to get my juices going. If you’re super curious about what little scribbles I’m doing, I’ve been uploading them to the Pencils and Sketches part of my site. The quick little digital doodles are part of a project my pal Neogeen is working on and a bunch of artists are testing. I’m enjoying myself. (Seriously, check out her art, it is the bees knees)

Something from the fun times!

Here are a couple of other digital pieces. The bear is a commission and the fox is a little pencil sketch I dolled up for fun.

Hopefully there will be more cute coming your way. I will be open for larger commissions in June – digital and real media – so give me a holler if you’re interested.

It’s nice to be finally getting the feel for the digital media again. Photoshop and I have not been friends for a while. FYI, the bear badge was done in SAI and the fox was coloured in photoshop.

Warcraft Cutie Commissions

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

I did a round of World of Warcraft Cutie Commissions for folks, and here they are! I have one outstanding that’ll end up here when it’s done.

Also, I have this wonderful inkwash bunny that was done as a commissiin. Something that is not a Pony! I call shenanigans.

Mini Magnets and (Hopefully) stickers

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I made those cute little mini magnets last year, and they were a hit. I will have them and all this other con stuff from Toronto at Calgary this year. I decided to make more little Illustrator illustrations for Calgary, so I’m not just bringing last year’s leftovers! Here they are (Plus the best sellers from last year, I might make a couple of more sets of turtles, but what I have is what I’ll have)

Assuming Canada Post either doesn’t go on strike, or the strike doesn’t last long, I will also have stickers available. My glossy sticker paper is in the mail. D’oh!

I’m also going to have a new print – My Uncanny Ponies. I just need to finish it up, it’ll be done shortly before the con, as well as some pre-drawn sketch cards.

Calgary Comic Expo

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

First, have a Pangolin in a Dinner Jacket beanie to start your day! What a dapper fellow.

I will be there, will you?

I’ll have more details as I get them, like a table number and all, but I don’t think I’m in artist alley this time around. For those of you wondering, yes I will be doing the ‘How to Draw Star Wars’ stuff again and I’m looking forward to catching up with all you Calgary folks again. I’m sad to have missed Emerald City Comicon.

I will be offering commissions to be picked up at the con, such as bust sketches, sketch cards, cuties and beanies, look for an announcement in April or May for that. I need to get through the rest of the semester first.

I haven’t been drawing, but I HAVE been knitting

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

Well, I have pages and pages of doodles that relate to my class notes (They help me remember and are mostly quite hilarious. I’ll scan some sometime for sure).

I very quickly knit a lobster for my brother, and I am in the process of making my own Moonkin pattern. I will need some test knitters for the moonkin once I’m done with it. I’d originally started by knitting a moonkin with an owl pattern from this Christmas’ ‘Knit Simple’ Magazine (I bought it because it has some adorable critter patterns) and while it is disgustingly cute, I decided to write my own from scratch. I knit the knit simple one as I went, so I do have a prototype moonkin that looks adorable, but not moonkinny enough for me. :D

I’ll do more posting as things go on. For now, here is Francois the lobster. He is knit from this pattern and I kiiiind of messed up the increases/decreases and the placement of his feelers, but my brother thought he was adorable.

Pre con teaser post! Artwork!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

As I have to finish a whack of my Clone Wars cards prior to going to the con, here is a teaser of art so I don’t forget to post it.

How Harold Got His Wings

This is the cover for the book! For the final piece I plan on spending about a month doing watercolour studies for painting the Northern Lights. Or I might do the entire book as my first fully digitally painted product. The book at the con has a colour cover, B&W innards.

Full of a bunch of never seen before arts and a few old favourites.

Aaaand, finally:

Mini Magnets. These little tiny round disks have been painstakingly cut out by hand and are assembled behind a glass bead thing. I’m selling ‘em for $3 or 2 for $5 because they are quite the labour intensive little things. I will have a larger version of the illustrator icons in my digital art gallery post con.
