Thank you, Calgary!

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Thanks for the wonderful time. I did lots of sketches, met lots of people and it went by so fast.

As promised, I’ll have some of my Star Wars ‘How to Draw’ tutorials up soon, and a new Yoda one. Right now I’m finishing off the commissions that I took late on Sunday.

While I was going to randomly go to Ottawa Comicon next weekend to schmooze, I’ve got a responsibility here at home that is keeping me from road tripping. I’ll be at Wizardworld Chicago as a guest and perhaps a couple of other between now and then as a fan.

On the subject of commissions, the following pictures were commissioned and not picked up. If these belong to you, please get in touch with me! I think the commissioner was a volunteer, and these were for her nephews.

Calgary Expo, Here I come!

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

I promised a friend I would preface any entries with sloths by warning about impending sloths. There are sloths in here. If you love sloths, yay, if not, this is your warning. Sloths appear after the lazer kitten.

I will be at table X26. Come and find me! I will sign artbooks for free, kids get a free signed trading card (Everyone else pays a buck). Doodles starting at $5. Friday i will be running an Ewok mask class for kidlets, and Saturday is ‘You Can Draw Star Wars’ day. Check out the Calgary Expo site for times.

I have the laser kitten artbook piece as my poster. The first 15 people to bring me a copy to sign get a free laser-kitten button! Yay! Buttons!

Laser kitten! Pewpew!

Oh no, someone charged his lasers!

Did someone say BUTTONS? I have buttons for $2 each. And they’re awesome.

Sloths and Bacon and Ninja Turtle Buttons

And Stickers! Die cut vinyl. $1.50 each*

And, finally, colouring books. Lovingly drawn and collated by yours truly. $5 each. Full of awesome. I only have 25 of these suckers, but I plan on doing another print run if they sell out. So don’t fret! My luggage was getting heavy.

Colouring book of awesomeness.

Of course I will have my usual fare of prints as well. Stop by and say hello at least! I’d love to see you :)

Dragon Ferrets! Squee! Dookdookdook!

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

This is kind of the big thing I’ve been working on for a while – something traditional, cute and with wings. behold, Dragon Ferrets!

I will have letter sized prints available for Calgary Comic Expo attendees to purchase, and the original is also for sale at the show. Also – I plan on doing 4×6 mini prints of each ferret.

While I have uploaded it elsewhere on the internets, I will have my Calgary Expo Artbook piece up here soon!

Also for sale at Calgary Expo (prices TBD): Mystical Critters Colouring Book, How Harold Got His Wings, my 2011 Sketchbook (no new book this year for Calgary, the 2011 one will be discounted!). Plus prints! Sketches! You-As-A-Pony and/or Your Fave Pokemon cheap doodles! Vinyl stickers! Magnets! BUTTONS! and original art. I’ll be signing artbooks from the past or present, as well.

Also, this year my display is guaranteed to not fall down. I have the power of awesomeness (And pre-building the display) at my disposal this time.

As we get closer to the con, more art will be posted. Like dragons. And Hydras. And Laser kittens. And sloths!

Off I go!

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

I am in Pearson Airport and waiting to board my flight to Calgary. I will be setting up tomorrow and ready to meet and greet everyone. My table is P09 and I can’t wait to meet anyone who is coming!

Just come by to say HI, but know that everyone who purchases something will get a free trading card or postcard.

CCEE, here I come – next week

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

CCEE has posted their program book, which has a little picture of my artbook contribution in it, so I figure it’s officially safe to show it off. Please, if you’re going to CCEE, pick up one of the artbooks! Proceeds this year go to Make a Wish. Bring it to my table and I’ll sign it, and people who come by with an artbook will get a free postcard or trading card. I am at P09 in the writer/artist guest area, not in the Artist Alley, so come and find me!

The artbook piece is adobe photoshop and to accompany the original, I am very likely going to get a poster printed for the auction.

Hope to see you all in Calgary!

Mini Magnets and (Hopefully) stickers

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I made those cute little mini magnets last year, and they were a hit. I will have them and all this other con stuff from Toronto at Calgary this year. I decided to make more little Illustrator illustrations for Calgary, so I’m not just bringing last year’s leftovers! Here they are (Plus the best sellers from last year, I might make a couple of more sets of turtles, but what I have is what I’ll have)

Assuming Canada Post either doesn’t go on strike, or the strike doesn’t last long, I will also have stickers available. My glossy sticker paper is in the mail. D’oh!

I’m also going to have a new print – My Uncanny Ponies. I just need to finish it up, it’ll be done shortly before the con, as well as some pre-drawn sketch cards.

Calgary Comic Expo

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

First, have a Pangolin in a Dinner Jacket beanie to start your day! What a dapper fellow.

I will be there, will you?

I’ll have more details as I get them, like a table number and all, but I don’t think I’m in artist alley this time around. For those of you wondering, yes I will be doing the ‘How to Draw Star Wars’ stuff again and I’m looking forward to catching up with all you Calgary folks again. I’m sad to have missed Emerald City Comicon.

I will be offering commissions to be picked up at the con, such as bust sketches, sketch cards, cuties and beanies, look for an announcement in April or May for that. I need to get through the rest of the semester first.

Post con wrap up

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Had a decent show! While I didn’t sell as much as I would have liked to, I saw a ton of old friends and made a bunch more new ones. That is worth its weight in gold.

One new friend I made was the amazing Garrett Hanna who, while being an amazing artist, is also a fantastically nice guy. We shared a table, I traded him a drawing of Wartortle for a print of Batman. And I didn’t notice as I was clearing out, but I left my markers behind at the show. Garrett emailed me and let me know he had them, and he is going to mail them to me.

Holy crap. What a standup guy. That was a few hundred dollars worth of markers I almost lost.

So yes, go look at his art because he’s a great artist and a nice dude who totally saved my bacon.

Will have more post con wrapup after I get everything done. I also need to sleep :(

I ams uper sad about my markers because it means there really won’t be many colour cards for my Clone Wars set that will be in packs. Sorry, guys! But that happens D:

Pre con teaser post! Artwork!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

As I have to finish a whack of my Clone Wars cards prior to going to the con, here is a teaser of art so I don’t forget to post it.

How Harold Got His Wings

This is the cover for the book! For the final piece I plan on spending about a month doing watercolour studies for painting the Northern Lights. Or I might do the entire book as my first fully digitally painted product. The book at the con has a colour cover, B&W innards.

Full of a bunch of never seen before arts and a few old favourites.

Aaaand, finally:

Mini Magnets. These little tiny round disks have been painstakingly cut out by hand and are assembled behind a glass bead thing. I’m selling ‘em for $3 or 2 for $5 because they are quite the labour intensive little things. I will have a larger version of the illustrator icons in my digital art gallery post con.

mini-magnetsI hope to see you guys there!
