Jaxxon Mighty Muggs Strikes Back!

I was honoured to be asked to participate in the ‘Empire Muggs Back’ charity fundraiser for Lucasfilm.

This Jaxxon Mighty Mugg will be for sale at San Diego Comiccon at the Lucasfilm booth, and all proceeds will go towards the Make A Wish foundation.

For those of you who don’t know, Jaxxon is a 6 foot tall jack rabbit scoundrel from the Marvel Star Wars comic books, so I felt it would just be awesome to turn him into a Mugg.

The lines are a little wobbly, acrylic isn’t my forte, but I had a lot of fun with him I learned a lot of things that will help me with my TK project helmet, for sure.

Behind the break is how I did it!

First I started with some sketches to get a feel for how I would be drawing a 6 foot rabbit on a 6 inch SD critter.

I primed/sketched the face on the muggs and sculpted some ears out of paper clay – I didn’t actually glue them on until the colour coats were finished (The clay smells like mint. mmm!)

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Because I was using kinda cheap acrylic, it took about 4 coats of each colour to get a nice, opaque finish.

And here is the final product, in a box I wish I’d had more time to customize this, but it had to go to fed ex.

I’m planning on uploading some photos and art soon. I had an awesome time and I’d like to thank everyone who came by my table to say hello!

I *do* still have some stuff for sale – postcards, magnets and stickers and prints (oh my!) which I will be posting on my store page within the next couple of weeks.

I hope to see all you Calgary folks again next year!

Moonkins and Calgary

Before I head off to Calgary, I thought Id share this. I drew some moonkins in my sketchbook and thought they’d make great bookmarks, so I have bookmarks of these guys for Calgary Comic Expo.

Now I need to do some stuff before I hit the road. Hope to see some of you in Calgary!

Now that I have Wordpress tamed, here’s an official welcome to the new site!

Because this was lost when I moved the old site, I will be participating in the 501st TK project and making an awesome helmet for charity.
