After I get some test knitting happened for this puppy, the pattern will be available for sale for $4. it is based on the Moonkins of WoW, but it can also be used to knit an owlbear or just a plain owl or whatever
This took a long time to write, I wrote it as I went along with a test knit, then I typed it up and did the test knit you see posted here. I’m excited!
Lately I’ve been doing more than just drawing. I’ve been knitting and sewing, too. I have one commission I am working on, and that’ll be done this week!
Last year I hastily made a rat costume for our ‘Run for the Cure’ team. The mask is in desperate need of being redone (I made it in 2 days while I had the flu and it shows), so for halloween I decided to take a different twist on the Lab Rat, as I am a lab rat IRL now.
I decided I would make a hat instead of a full face mask so I can actually breathe in the costume and wear it to the lab on Monday. It consists of a simple hood-hat (Click for the pattern) and the tail I made last year. I repurposed the ears from the mask that needs to be redone, and sculpted a nosepiece out of model magic.
It was really fun to make. I handsewed the hat and the tail was also hand sewed. I am thinking of making more of these, but I don’t know what I’d do with them. Maybe auction them off or something. Unlike the hat in the pattern I linked, I added a snap under the chin so the hat is more of a hood-mask.
I have also been knitting. Here is a cowl I knit up!
For the past few years I’ve contributed variousWonder Womanthemed pieces for Wonder Woman Day in Portland. This year the event has opened up to different female characters, so I chose one of my old favourites – Cheetara. I am a fan of her old, campy outfit. While the new Cheetara is certainly awesome, I am not a fan of her proportions or revealing costume, so I thought I would kick it up oldschool. Thundercats, HO! To get more info, visit the Women of Wonder site.
I sold out at the con, and I have more printed now.
The prints are $5 each plus shipping – $2 Canada, $3 US and $5 International.
I am also taking You-As-A-Pony commissions!
Here’s the deal, any more details than this are more cash!

Please comment or send an email to amy at flyingarmadillo dot com and I will ponify you!
I DO have an example of a watercolour pony, but I can’t show it yet as it is a gift. However, watercolour ponies are awesome and not streaky like the marker ones. Note that I cannot guarantee exact colour matching with watercolours.
Below are some I did in Calgary, your ponies for the post con price are guaranteed to be streak free
This is a crossover piece that I will have available as a print at Calgary Comic Expo. I had far more fun with this than I should have. I was originally going to do a Star Wars crossover, but I felt like doing Xmen instead.
CCEE has posted their program book, which has a little picture of my artbook contribution in it, so I figure it’s officially safe to show it off. Please, if you’re going to CCEE, pick up one of the artbooks! Proceeds this year go to Make a Wish. Bring it to my table and I’ll sign it, and people who come by with an artbook will get a free postcard or trading card. I am at P09 in the writer/artist guest area, not in the Artist Alley, so come and find me!
The artbook piece is adobe photoshop and to accompany the original, I am very likely going to get a poster printed for the auction.
I made those cute little mini magnets last year, and they were a hit. I will have them and all this other con stuff from Toronto at Calgary this year. I decided to make more little Illustrator illustrations for Calgary, so I’m not just bringing last year’s leftovers! Here they are (Plus the best sellers from last year, I might make a couple of more sets of turtles, but what I have is what I’ll have)
Assuming Canada Post either doesn’t go on strike, or the strike doesn’t last long, I will also have stickers available. My glossy sticker paper is in the mail. D’oh!
I’m also going to have a new print – My Uncanny Ponies. I just need to finish it up, it’ll be done shortly before the con, as well as some pre-drawn sketch cards.
First, have a Pangolin in a Dinner Jacket beanie to start your day! What a dapper fellow.
I will be there, will you?
I’ll have more details as I get them, like a table number and all, but I don’t think I’m in artist alley this time around. For those of you wondering, yes I will be doing the ‘How to Draw Star Wars’ stuff again and I’m looking forward to catching up with all you Calgary folks again. I’m sad to have missed Emerald City Comicon.
I will be offering commissions to be picked up at the con, such as bust sketches, sketch cards, cuties and beanies, look for an announcement in April or May for that. I need to get through the rest of the semester first.
